Helicopter footage examines the desert, surveying ancient natural formations and human interventions. Dynamite changes the face of the land. Farmers work their fields. Children play hide-and-seek. Employing archival footage, UNDR constructs an eerie narrative of calculated incursion. We cannot help but recall that Palestine remains a land subjected to aerial surveillance that seeks to appropriate the landscape.

Letter to a Friend

In Letter to a Friend, artist Emily Jacir writes a letter to her friend, Eyal, after a military situation on her street leaves it strewn with empty canisters of the Triple Chaser, a particularly destructive type of teargas. Her letter is an intimate and intricate recounting of her street, its history and her family’s past. Interlacing images, textures, and sounds from over a century, Jacir unravels layers of this ancient city, and the constant threat it lives under.

A Stone’s Throw

Synopsis: ชายปาเลสไตน์สูงวัยชื่ออามีน ถูกขับไล่จากบ้านเกิดที่ไฮฟา จนต้องระเห็ดไปยังกรุงเบรุต และจากเบรุตไปยังเกาะเซอร์กู เพื่อทำงานในแท่นขุดเจาะน้ำมันนอกชายฝั่ง ภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ระหกระเหินข้ามพรมแดน เพื่อแสดงความเชื่อมโยงทางความรู้สึกของแรงงานการขุดเจาะน้ำมัน และการยึดครองปาเลสไตน์ของลัทธิไซออนนิสต์ หนังยังย้อนไปถึงประวัติศาสตร์การต่อต้านของปาเลสไตน์ในปี 1936 เมื่อคนงานขุดเจาะน้ำมันที่ไฮฟาวางระเบิดท่อส่งของบริษัท BP 

Amine, a Palestinian elder, is exiled twice from land and labour. He is displaced from his birthplace Haifa seeking refuge in Beirut, and again to Zirku Island, for work on an offshore oil platform and work camp in the Arab Gulf. "A Stone’s Throw" trespasses borders to reveal an emotional and material proximity between the extraction of oil and labour in the region and the Zionist colonization of Palestine. The film rehearses a history of the Palestinian resistance when, in 1936, the oil labourers of Haifa blew up a BP pipeline.
